Crossing Boundaries Symposium
2017
Art, Technology, and Identity

With technological advances running at an incredible pace, and the current political/social climate in a perpetual state of flux, artists, innovators, scholars and activists alike continue researching and working on ways to address the questions and issues that arise from our ever changing world.  On October 27-28, 2017 join the Faculty of Fine Arts as we host the annual Crossing Boundaries Symposium to discuss ideas on art, technology, and identity.

Using the University of Lethbridge as the nexus point, Crossing Boundaries: Art, Technology, and Identity hopes to activate cultural discourse on the relevance of current artistic practices in relation to the directions of this overarching theme.  This two-day event brings together established and emerging innovators from the creative fields to Southern Alberta for engaging discussions, activities and displays.  Guest speakers this year include installation artist David Rokeby, artist/theorist Micha Cárdenas, and media artist/designer Thecla Schiphorst.

The Crossing Boundaries Symposium kicks off October 27 with a reception and student presentations in the University of Lethbridge Main Gallery as well as Level 6 Atrium.  On October 28, look forward to keynote presentations, demonstrations, and a panel discussion at the University Centre for the Arts.

Early-bird registration opens Wednesday, September 1.
